Congratulations to the Hillsboro High School Water Polo Girls Team who captured 3rd place at the 2024 5A Oregon State Championships! The Hillsboro Boys Water Polo Team came home with 5th place for their efforts at the tournament.
The girls won their state playoff game against Bend 6–5 and then proceeded to beat Summit 5-4 in the 3rd place game. Co-captains Braelyn Hutton and Kori Foster led the team. Braelyn won first team All-State honors with excellent play throughout the tournament. Kate Medina was outstanding in the goal. Other team leaders include offensive sprinter Lindsey Everton and defensive specialist Kori Foster, all earned All-State second team honors or honorable mention. The girls have finished third in the tournament three previous times in 2018, 2019, and 2021, and made it to the championship game in 2022 finishing in 2nd place.
The boys are in a rebuilding year with no seniors and were still able to finish 5th place at the state tournament after losing to Hood River in the playoffs. They are led by Junior captain and leading scorer Cameron Bell.
